Dear Parents,
This letter is to provide
information to potential student athletes for the 2007-08 school
year. Our school board has approved a Drug Testing Policy for all
student athletes.
The policy states that 50% of our student athletes will be tested randomly
during each season. The in-season test will be at no cost to the
student athlete and his or her family.
The policy requires a
pre-season test be taken by all student-athletes. The cost of this
test is $20 and must be paid by the student-athlete at the time of
collection. There will be no school action taken for pre-season
positive results; these rules are for parents only. School action
will be taken for positive results on the random tests taken during the
season. No student student will be allowed to participate without
the completion of the drug test and turning in the signed consent
forms. The consent forms are available in the Athletic Office, or
get them on our web page at www.pickeringtontigers.com.
At the time of testing, the student-athlete will be given a form on which
the athlete may list any prescriptions or medications he or she has taken
during the preceding 72 hours. The information will be provided to
the testing laboratory to protect the athlete's privacy and will not be
provided to district personnel.
Pickerington Local School
District has entered into an agreement with Great Lakes Biomedical for
the 2005-06 school year to handle our drug testing program.
Throughout the year you will notice some changes to the drug testing
procedure, however we believe these be for the betterment of the
program. The test will be given here at the High School. At the time of the test every student-athlete
will need to have a picture ID (drivers license) or be accompanied by a
Parent / Guardian and provide their social security number.
If you have any
questions, please
contact the Athletic Office at 614-833-3046. Students who participate in Winter and/or Spring sports only will not be
tested at this time.
